The central painting combines three dramatic images. At the top is a view of the upper Galilee panhandle. The bottom section shows the wide-open expanse of the Maktesh Ramon crater wilderness of the Negev. In the middle, Jerusalem is painted in a montage of sepia silhouettes. The ketubah text lies over the middle section. Altogether the image represents the totality of the land of Israel from north to south with Jerusalem as the central focus. A delicate filigree of climbing vines borders the painting on the sides. The verse from Jeremiah exclaims, “ I recall for you the kindness of your youth, the love of your nuptials, your following Me into the Wilderness, into an unsown land.”
